At last! After weeks of work, I have finally republished the first of my short fiction for readers of 8-12. BIFFY AND THE BARROW is a 20 page story printed on quality paper from sustainably managed forests which is part of a series aimed at encouraging children to respect the planet and the natural forces of the earth.
BIFFY AND THE BARROW is the story of Biffy, a young boy outside mainstream society who understands the "fairy folk|" who live in the burial mound or barrow near his home.
When Jacko and his gang decide to use the mound as a scrambling ground for their motorbikes, Biffy's warnings of trouble come dramatically true.
First published as a limited edition as part of my BA course at Manchester Metropolitan University in 1994, the updated version is published by Cara Louise Books.

Set in Jerusalem and the West Bank
Charlotte Adams leaves her secure post at the British Museum to escape unhappy memories of a stalker and her sister’s death which have left her battling with an eating disorder.
She takes a job at the New International University of Jerusalem, translating some recently unearthed clay fragments which were written by the younger sister of Rahab, the Canaanite prostitute who bid Joshua’s spies before the fall of Jericho. Charlotte hopes this will be a groundbreaking career move, which will lead to an illustrious academic career, but it is not so easy to leave her past behind and the future holds fresh terrors.
The New International University is not the showpiece it seems and when Charlotte’s boss puts out some of her findings on the Internet, despite warnings from enigmatic American archeologist Ben Travers, she finds herself pursued by Mossad, Hammas and American arms dealers, all intent on finding a secret power source used by Joshua to devastate Canaan, which holds the potential for even greater destruction in the modern world.
Charlotte is caught up in an international web of intrigue and danger, and despite her developing relationship with Ben, the only person she can really trust appears to be the girl who left behind her story on clay fragments over three millennia ago.
